Horsemen Organization adds the Jumia Gaming Tournament winner Phillip Kimani in their roaster for the upcoming e-Lig University series.

Horsemen Organization strengthened their roaster last week by adding a player who is rising in the ranks of competitive FIFA in Kenya. The Horsemen Organization based in Kenyatta University will have a great player who will bolster their points and also help get the organization wins throughout the series. Phillip Kimani also graced the Horizon Lounge tournament that had one-half of the Horizon Organization players from UON and he managed to win it showing his skills amongst many he will meet again during the e-Lig series.

The e-Lig University Series FIFA19 Tour gives an opportunity for institutions to embrace digital revolution and growth using Esport.

When you talk about FIFA in Kenya, you are talking about the most played video game across the country with the highest demand for casual and competitive play. There have been more FIFA competitions organized and run than any other competitive video game in Kenya this year alone.

Our research, done in 4 gaming lounges across estates and in Nairobi CBD sees FIFA taking up to 90% of the game being played with Mortal Kombat coming in a distant second. The Tekken community is present with most of its players playing online and in the Tekken254 Circuit which is going into its third season next year. The Tekken 254 community currently has 32 members showing a 66% growth in participation from the 21 competitors we had for the first tourney organized and run in collaboration with Tekken Two-Five-Four-Gaming.

Ace Pro Gaming next franchise “The e-Lig University Series” is taking shape with more interest coming from various University teams especially so in Nairobi. The FIFA19 series will be added as part of our roaster on top of the Tekken254 Circuit that has so far run two seasons.

The e-Lig University Series will pave way for franchising Esport organizations per University. This will give institutions an Esport franchise to rally behind. “University franchises will start a journey to become the best organization playing FIFA in Kenya.” With a regular series tour moving from institution to institution, the series will see a well formatted league that gives an experience like no other and at the same time, giving fans an exceptional Esport event filled with tight competition, sense of belonging and business literacy.

“We want to focus heavily on providing University students with access to business, financial literacy, and entertainment. Universities hold the future leaders in business especially in the Technology industry of this country,” says Ace Pro Gaming Head of Marketing Jairus Ogembo.

Franchising teams by University helps in creating and increasing local demand and interests from fans and gives them a team to rally behind. The e-Lig series is also tapping into the growing number of persons playing FIFA in Kenya giving many new University entrants a chance to compete professionally and intensively in the University series.

The e-Lig University Series will see a great format with regular seasons for the main stage competition, an all-female league on the side and the first ever Night Esport Event.  The series will also have a great format that is easy to comprehend giving both players and fans a great engagement platform.

Competitive FIFA is currently taking shape with more licensed leagues such as e-EPL (English Premier League-England), e-MLS (Major League Soccer-USA), e-Champions League (UCL Champions League-Europe) and Electronic Arts Champions Cup plus many online leagues. The competition is attracting more than 10million players per tourney and we believe the e-Lig University series can tap into this great competition being run globally.

The e-Lig University series aligns itself with a new demographic that is more digital, more diverse and hardworking in whatever they set themselves to do. 90% of all competitors in our previous tourneys have been University students, so we felt taking the series to them will be great and more competitive. The future of Esports is dependent on how it is organized from down up and Ace Pro Gaming seeks to create this platform. The franchises give an opportunity to Universities to have global recognition within the Esport and Technology industry and this further helps in tapping all opportunities that come with it.

University Esports needs to be understood, well structured, accepted and supported. The growth levels will be seen as time progresses

Horsemen’s (KU) Bree Obea and Horizon’s (UON) Tamara headline e-Lig University series all-female league participation.

The e-Lig University series continues to build momentum with the introduction of an All-Female league competition. Each University will present a female player who will compete in the female division with an aim add more females in Esports. The numbers of females participating in Ace Pro Gaming competitions is at a staggering 6% in the Tekken254 Circuit and 0% in FIFA.

“We believe adding an all-female competition for the e-Lig University series will help grow the participation of women in Kenya’s Esport scene,” says Jairus Ogembo, Head of Marketing at Ace Pro Gaming. The all-female competition will be crucial to the series as it will have 6 representatives from each University playing for points that will be tallied in the final aggregate points at the end of the series.

Kenyatta University franchised Esport organization “Horsemen” has sent their female participant Bree Obea who will be joined by University of Nairobi’s “Horizon Organization” player Tamara. The female section is slowly picking up and will see a full competition with four more participants from the registered teams. The ladies will play in a round robin format giving them an opportunity to play against everyone in the conference to gauge their competitiveness levels in the series.

The e-Lig University series will see a total of six University playing in the inaugural season which is dubbed Season 0.

AlphaPlay|Priest beat Xstar 3-2 to secure a final against his teammate Michael Muhoro.

Savanna Majors Grand Final

Michael Muhoro “AlphaPlay|Mickey” picking Xiaoyu while William “AlphaPlay|Priest” Omondi going with his main Jack, the set ended 3-0 with Michael Muhoro taking the day again securing season two championship.

Premier Division Playoffs

The premier division playoffs saw bottom four players from the premier division play against top four players from the second tier division called the challenger division. These playoffs were to determine relegation and promotion of players from premier and challenger division respectively.

The bottom four from the Premier Division had Dawa Jr, Mugi, Dice1533, and PseudoDude who were fighting to remain in the Premier Division against AlphaPlay|SlyFace, LowLife, DenoDev and Stanley Styler.

The playoffs saw Stanley Styler, LowLife, PseudoDude and DenoDev all secure Premier Division spots for season three.

Savanna Majors saw the end of Season Two with Michael Muhoro proving to be the best Tekken player in Kenya. A big shout out to Xstar who proved to be the most improved player as with Frost. We would like to thank the whole Tekken254 Community for putting up great show this season and also for growing Esports in Kenya. We look forward to seeing you during Season Three of the Tekken254 Circuit.

Ace Pro Gaming launches the next phase of its pioneering Esport series.

The Tekken 254 Circuit has provided an in-depth look into our investment in Esports. The circuit has run for the past 6 months with two seasons and looking to grow bigger and better. We believe Esports is wholly dependent on its management and we have invested fully in management. With all these up our sleeves, we are excited to be launching our next planned series of competition and that is the FIFA franchise.

FIFA is arguably the largest game played amongst many persons living in and out of Nairobi and also regionally in East Africa. FIFA constitutes to up to 80% of games being played in many of the gaming lounges. ‘Walk into any gaming lounge in Nairobi, Kiambu, Kisumu etc and FIFA will be the most played game you will see on the screens. Out of 10 screens in the lounge, 8 are being used for FIFA’– says Head of Marketing Jairus Ogembo.

FIFA is highly played by many young people who throng into the many game lounges around estates, university accommodation areas, and also residential homes. Gaming lounges have also had its share of increase constituting to 35% growth especially in Nairobi. Many movies & series shops have either closed to create room for a gaming section or expanded space inside to spin off to have a video gaming business on the side. This clearly shows its intense growth and we as Ace Pro Gaming look to tap it by creating a series of tournaments that will see players compete for points and prizes.

The FIFA series will go by the name “e-Lig series”. The e-Lig will be played in a format designed by the Ace Pro Gaming tournaments team. Our first investment into the planned FIFA competition will be the universities & colleges series. The series will be played amongst different universities & colleges in Kenya. The series will feature a great format of play, and points awarding system that will spice up entertainment but also incorporate a lot of strategy, competition and business opportunity.

We also look to angle and work hard to have the e-Lig | University & Colleges Series to be part of the Kenya University Sports Association games in the near future. ‘Digital sports are proving to be an answer to an increase in spectatorship, participation and also job creation amongst many young people.”– Charles Wambugu, Head of Operations Ace Pro Gaming.  The KUSA games are run annually having different Universities competing against each other clearly showing how organized these games competitions are and we believe including Esports will have great benefits to the games.

More information on the e-Lig selected venues, dates, explained format, number of participants and points awarding system will be released soon.
